Our workshop “Human Dependence on Ecosystem Services” at the Green Office of UTFPR today with our Finnish researcher Elina Sorri was a great success that generated a very broad debate about consumer awareness, vulnerability, recycling and the possibilities (and limitations) of change towards a more sustainable future.
As part of the workshop the participants of the Studio presented the IPBES which is working on a framework that integrates studies about ecosystems and biodiversity from natural sciences as well as from the humanities. Human impacts on nature, which are the main pressures of global climate change and biodiversity loss, need to be studied in a more interdisciplinary way, so long-term solutions to the pressing issues of our time can be found.
Géssica from the team of Curitiba Lixo Zero presented some of the important initiatives that have been launched in Curitiba surrounding environmental education, especially concerning compostation. To learn more about all of these check out all of “Semana Lixo Zero”!
There are more exciting events coming up this and next week! Take a look at the ones here at UTFPR (below) or all of the very diverse events on the Facebook Page of Curitiba Lixo Zero and their event “Semana Lixo Zero”.
